ShelfLife — Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

AdvancedAZAds, LLC, doing business as ShelfLife ("ShelfLife," "we," "us"), provides software that creates and automatically optimizes Amazon Sponsored Products advertising for books.

This policy explains what information we collect, why, who we share it with, and what choices you have. It applies to our website, the customer dashboard, and the Service. It is incorporated into our Terms of Service.

2. Information you give us

• Account information — name, email address, and password. Passwords are stored as salted hashes by our authentication provider; we never see them in plain text.
• Book information — title, author name, ASIN, marketplace, monthly advertising budget, and related details.
• Manuscripts — the book file you upload for each Book. See §5.
• Payment information — handled by our payment processor. We do not receive or store your full card number. We store a customer identifier, subscription status, and billing metadata returned by the processor.
• Communications — messages you send us for support.

3. Information we receive from others

• From Amazon Advertising — once you grant access, we retrieve and store advertising data for your account: campaigns, ad groups, keywords, targets, bids, budgets, impressions, clicks, spend, orders, sales, and search terms.
• From our payment processor — subscription and payment status, and the outcome of payments; not card numbers.
• Automatically — standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, and pages viewed, along with the records of your acceptance of our Terms (timestamp, version, IP address, and browser user agent). See §7 for cookies.

4. Information about other people

If you are a publisher, agency, or assistant, the information you give us may concern Authors other than yourself — their names, their books, and their advertising accounts.

You are responsible for having the right to give us that information, and for telling those Authors that you have. We process it as described in this policy, on your instructions. If an Author contacts us directly about their information, we may refer them to you or ask you to confirm their entitlement before acting.

5. Manuscripts — how we handle them

ShelfLife utilizes third-party Artificial Intelligence tools in the development of its advertising campaigns, along with advertising data collected from third parties. ShelfLife does not train any Artificial Intelligence models on subscriber manuscript submissions. Manuscripts provided to ShelfLife remain the property of the submitting author. Such data is used exclusively for business and service-delivery purposes; manuscripts are retained while the related Book's subscription is active and are ordinarily deleted from ShelfLife's systems within a commercially reasonable period after that subscription ends, generally no more than 90 days. Limited retention beyond that may occur only when necessary to provide customer support related to the submission or to complete a refund or similar administrative process.

In more detail — manuscripts get stricter treatment than anything else we hold:

• They are stored in private storage with no public access. There are no public links, and access is only possible through our backend systems using privileged credentials.
• They are readable by ShelfLife personnel for the purpose of building and refining advertising for your Book.
• They may be processed by our AI providers to extract keywords, themes, and comparable titles and to generate advertising materials for your Book. See §6 for exactly what this means.
• They are never used to train any machine learning model, ours or anyone else's. Our AI providers process them solely to provide the Service to us, under contract terms that prohibit training on them.
• They are not published, distributed, sold, or shared with any other customer.
• Retention: when a Book's subscription ends, its Manuscript is kept for the grace period described above (generally no more than 90 days), then deleted from our live systems, and removed from backups as those backups expire in the ordinary course of our backup rotation.

6. Artificial intelligence

Parts of the Service use AI models provided by Anthropic, PBC, and may use other providers, to analyze books and advertising data and to generate advertising materials.

What we may send: book metadata, manuscript content, and Amazon advertising and search-term data.

What we never send: your account credentials, your payment information, or your personal contact details.

Our AI providers process this data on our behalf as service providers. They are contractually prohibited from using it to train their models and from retaining it beyond what providing the service requires.

7. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies for:

Essential purposes — signing you in, keeping your session, and security. The Service does not work without these. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not sell or share personal information obtained through cookies. Because we do not sell or share personal information, we do not respond differently to browsers that send an opt-out signal such as Global Privacy Control, but we honor the rights in §12 regardless.

8. Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for advertising purposes. We use service providers in the following categories, each under contract and only as needed. We name our current providers as examples; we may add or change providers within these categories without notice, and we keep this list current.

We may also disclose information: to comply with law or valid legal process; to enforce our Terms; to protect the rights, safety, or property of ShelfLife, our customers, or others; and in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will give notice.

9. How we use information

To create and manage your advertising campaigns; to generate advertising materials where we provide them; to run automated optimization; to produce your dashboard and reports; to bill you and manage your subscription; to provide support; to monitor, secure, debug, and improve the Service; and to comply with our legal obligations.

We also use advertising performance data in aggregated, de-identified form to improve our optimization and to produce benchmarks and statistics. This form of data does not identify you, any Author, or any Book.

10. Retention

We keep account and book data for as long as your account is active, and after closure as needed for legal, tax, accounting, and dispute-resolution purposes — generally 7 years. Manuscripts follow §5. Records of your acceptance of our Terms are kept for as long as we may need to demonstrate the agreement. Aggregated, de-identified data may be kept indefinitely.

11. Security

We use industry-standard measures including encryption in transit, encryption of stored Amazon credentials, private storage buckets with no public access, and access controls limiting customer data to personnel who need it.

No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Your choices and rights

You can review and update account and book information in the dashboard, cancel at any time, and revoke our access to your Amazon Advertising account at any time (which ends the Service — see the Terms).

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, or to object to certain processing. California residents have rights under the CCPA/CPRA, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them; note that we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined there.

13. Users in the EEA, UK, and other regions

Authors and publishers advertise on Amazon marketplaces worldwide, so we expect customers outside the US. If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK, or another region with similar laws:

• Legal bases. We process your information to perform our contract with you (providing the Service), for our legitimate interests (securing, debugging, and improving the Service; enforcing our Terms), to comply with legal obligations, and with your consent where we ask for it. Manuscript processing, including AI processing under §6, is performed to fulfill our contract.
• International transfers. We are based in the United States and our service providers process data there. Where required, transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
• Your rights include access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, and complaint to your local supervisory authority.

14. Children

The Service is for business use and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. If a change is material, we will give notice by email or in the Service before it takes effect. Prior versions remain available at /legal/privacy/vN.
